Here's your "Friday" Don Chase Pop Quiz: According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Americans did this an average of about twice a week in 1928. Now, we each do it about 5 times a year. What? The answer is below.
News of the Weird: It’s time now for Officer Don’s Police Blotter. Officer Don's Police Blotter comes from the International File in Morelia, Mexico. A group of crooks broke into a cell phone store and made away with several phones. One problem, they only stole the hollow display phones that are completely useless for making calls, leaving behind the real cell phones and cash in another part or the shop.
Welcome to today’s “WKML Don Chase Secret 2 Success,” a service of Bible Alive Ministries. Dr. Ralph Richardson teacher.
I heard someone on tv say a few nights ago, “find out what you love to do. Do it and never work another day in your life.” Pretty good quote, huh? Find out what you love to do. Do it and never work another day in your life.” Being happy is solo important.
Thanks for being here for today’s “Secret 2 Success,” a service of Bible Alive Ministries. Dr. Ralph Richardson teacher.
It's a case of kiss and tell. But this time it's a police cruiser's dashboard video cam that's the tattletale. Part-time police officer Janine England has been stripped of her badge for sharing kisses with the police chief of Perry Township, Ohio. England and Chief Timothy Escola smooched in the front seat of a cruiser while a prisoner was in the back. The on-duty lip-lock was recorded by a video camera in the cruiser. England resigned this week after
township officials recommended she be fired. The chief retired June 30. Officials say a tip led them to check the cruiser's video recording.
Michael Jackson News:
--- A Los Angeles city councilman is calling on AEG Live to pay some of the estimated $1.4 million cost for Michael Jackson's memorial service Tuesday at the Staples Center. Dennis Zine told Fox 11 on Thursday that the city's taxpayers "are getting ripped off" because the owner-operator of the Staples Center profited by charging media up to $50,000 to use risers outside the venue. AEG President Tim Leiweke has said Zine was out of line for asking AEG to pay because it helped solicit donors for the Los Angeles Lakers victory parade last month. The parade and memorial both resulted in extraordinary costs at a time when the city is in debt for half of a billion dollars and
facing employee layoffs. The Lakers parade cost an estimated $2 million.
--- House speaker Nancy Pelosi has rejected the idea of a resolution honoring Michael Jackson -- a notion that Texas congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee proposed during the singer's memorial service. While calling Jackson "a great, great performer," Pelosi said, "There is opportunity on the floor of the House to express their sympathy or their praise. I don't think it's necessary for us to have a resolution.”
--- A source close to the Jackson family says the L-A-P-D the probe into his death may turn into a criminal investigation. According to C-N-N, the unnamed source says, "The family is aware of a potential criminal prosecution." Police Chief William Bratton has acknowledged questioning many of Jackson's doctors but says any decision on whether to open a criminal probe will depend upon the results of the toxicology report.
--- Jackson won't be lying in state in his hometown of Gary, Indiana as that city's mayor had hoped, but his dad will travel to the economically depressed town to appear at a memorial. Joe Jackson -- along with the Reverends Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton -- will speak tonight (Friday) at the Steel Yard Ball Park in Gary, and local product Deniece Williams will perform.
--- But Michael may yet be buried at Neverland. C-N-N says California state officials have given the O-K, but it's still up to local officials in Santa Barbara County -- and the family has yet to approach them.
President Obama has nominated Lt. Gen. Lloyd J. Austin III to be director of the Joint Staff, the Pentagon announced yesterday. The president also nominated Austin for reappointment to the rank of three-star general. The Senate must confirm the nomination. The Pentagon did not announce a nominee to succeed Austin as commander of Fort Bragg and the 18th Airborne Corps. Austin has held his present job since December 2006. In April, he returned after 15 months in charge of the Multi-National Corps-Iraq. Austin was nominated to replace Army Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal, who took command in June of the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan. McChrystal is former commander of the Joint Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg.
Col. William J. Gothard of Fayetteville will be promoted today to brigadier general in the Army Reserve. The promotion will be at 4 p.m. at the Airborne & Special Operations Museum in downtown Fayetteville. Gothard recently took command of the 353rd Civil Affairs Command in Staten Island, N.Y. The 353rd has about 1,900 soldier
